What Is APU In Computer.

What is APU

Today I explain about what is APU in computer hardware system. An APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) is the marketing term for a series of AMD 64-bit microprocessors that includes both the CPU and GPU on a single chip.Which was first launched in January,2011.

We all know CPU is main component of a computer. It handle all arithmetic-logical calculation all instruction that input by the user. It also perform graphic intensive task, while GPUs were only used for graphic intensive task. as GPU performance increased hardware manufacture and software programmers realized GPUs had a lot of potential. APU enable GPU and CPU to perform calculation integrating both unit on the same single chip. This strategy, called "Parallel Processing" an APU is more efficient than a separate CPU and GPU.While this strategy may not benefit for desktop computers with dedicated video cards. It can provide better performance in laptop and other mobile devices that have integrated graphics chips.

You only found this naming scheme in AMD processors, while intel processors are not called APUs.
modern Intel processors such as sandy bridge, ivy bridge, sky lake, kaby lake all are desidned with integrated CPUs and GPUs.
